Leaving Care Support Officer

Seven Resourcing are looking for a temporary Leaving Care Support Officer to work in Newcastle. This position is initially for a period of 3 months is paying £16.59 (PAYE) or £20.33 (umbrella) per hour. The working hours are Monday – Friday from 9am – 5pm.
The role:
To act as a case manager, hold a caseload and deliver a range of interventions designed to meet the assessed needs of young people aged 18+ receiving care leaver/unaccompanied asylum seeker services.
Key Responsibilities:
- To undertake assessment of young people in receipt of care leaving/unaccompanied asylum seeker services and contribute to the assessment process of other agencies in pursuit of improved outcomes for care leavers.
- To provide proactive, tailored and professional support to care leavers/unaccompanied asylum seekers in order that the objectives of their individual Pathway Plans are achieved.
- To provide budgeting support and financial guidance to young people in receipt of benefits, wages, grants and bursaries.
- To work in partnership with young people and other professionals to devise, complete and review Pathway Plans which increase personal resilience and promote successful independence and safe transitions for care leavers/unaccompanied asylum seekers.
- To give direct service and assistant to care leavers/unaccompanied asylum seekers and also provide assistant to the work carried out the Social Workers and partner agencies in accordance with local procedures and policy.
- To participate in the delivery of multi-agency packages of intervention to safeguard and promote the welfare of care leavers/unaccompanied asylum seekers in accordance with the NSCB/NASB policy and procedures. This includes working with Probation Services for those care leavers in custody.
Applicant Requirements:
Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or in Childcare (desirable and not essential).
Experience: 2+ years working within a similar role.
Compliance: Proof of right to work in the UK, 2 x references and a current DBS.
Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
Hours: 37.5 hours p/w.
