Consultant Substance Misuse Psychiatrist

  • Salary: £100 - £130 per hour
  • Type: Temporary / Full Time

Seven Criminal Justice are currently seeking a well-practiced and dedicated Consultant Substance Misuse Psychiatrist in the Norfolk area. The selected candidate is expected to assist in servicing the needs of patients suffering from addiction and substance abuse disorders. In this challenging role, you will make substantial contributions to the psychiatry department, our patients’ lives, and the community.

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients suffering from substance abuse.

2. Administer and manage effective treatments and therapies.

3. Prevent relapse through counselling, advising, prescribing medication and offering supportive services.

4. Work in close collaboration with other healthcare professionals involved in the patient’s care pathway.

5. Maintain up-to-date records and write reports.

6. Provide clinical leadership to a multi-disciplinary team.

7. Stay informed and implement evidence-based practices in substance misuse psychiatry.

8. Play an active role in promoting the organization’s addiction services within and beyond the locality.

9. Adhere to regulatory standards and guidelines, upholding the highest level of ethical conduct.

Qualifications:

1. Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a reputable university/medical college.

2. MRCPsych or equivalent qualification.

3. Full, unrestricted registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a license to practice.

4. Certification of Specialist Training (CCT) in Psychiatry or eligibility within six months of the application.

5. Extensive experience in addiction and substance misuse psychiatry.

6. Familiarity with working within a multi-disciplinary team.

7. Excellent communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills.

8. Keen interest in research and professional development.
