Family Safeguarding Model Recovery Worker

Seven Criminal Justice have an exciting opportunity for a committed and compassionate Family Safeguarding Model Recovery Worker to join our team in Swindon. This role focuses on recovery from substance misuse and promoting safeguarding for children and families within the region. The ideal candidate will have a strong dedication to helping families overcome challenges and improve their overall well-being.

Responsibilities:

1. Work within the Family Safeguarding team to work directly with families and individuals dealing with substance abuse.

2. Develop and implement tailored recovery plans, liaising closely with mental health teams and other service providers.

3. Conduct comprehensive risk assessments concerning child welfare and ensure these are regularly reviewed.

4. Provide necessary support and guidance to parents to encourage recovery, self-resilience, and beneficial parenting practices.

5. Maintain accurate records and provide regular updates on progress and any ongoing issues.

6. Support and guide families in their dealings with the social care system and other relevant agencies.

7. Deliver targeted interventions and workshops to support families’ mental health and well-being.

8. Provide support, education, and advice concerning appropriate health, hygiene, nutrition, and lifestyle choices.

Qualifications:

1. A degree in social work, counseling, psychotherapy, or a relevant field is required.

2. Experience of working within mental health, substance misuse, family services, or a related field is essential.

3. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

4. Knowledge of Safeguarding Practices.

5. Ability to empathize with, engage, and motivate families from varied backgrounds.

Candidates should be comfortable working directly with families and individuals facing challenging circumstances and should be equipped to manage potentially stressful situations effectively. They should demonstrate a solid understanding of the recovery process, children’s safeguarding practices, and the importance of family relationships.

Note: The successful applicant will be required to apply for an enhanced DBS check.
