Housing Interventions Worker

Seven Criminal Justice is looking for a Housing Intervention Worker to fill an exclusive opportunity within a leading charity in Wales.

The role:

The Housing Interventions Worker will support the role of the Partnership Manager and Camau Service Manager to fulfil outcome monitoring and develop new partnerships and referral pathways to facilitate access to temporary accommodation, supported living and private rent availability. The Housing Interventions Worker will be required to respond in a timely manner to referrals and provide clear risk recovery and resilience focused feedback detailing engagement and activities achieved. Feedback will be shared directly with the Responsible Officer within Probation contributing to the overall risk management and recovery support of the service user.

Rates are negotiated based on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

      Process and log referrals, conduct assessments and agree action plans with service users, always delivering a high degree of customer care and service in order to determine what their needs are and how our service can meet them.

Documenting the outcome of the assessment with recommendations. Record on-going referrals and contribute to risk assessment and overall risk management strategy with HMPPS.

Liaising with landlords as appropriate during the process including arranging viewings and tenancy agreements, negotiating rent amounts and terms.

Source properties in the private rented sector to meet the needs of the service users, including sourcing rooms in shared houses, House of Multiple Occupation, studios and 1 bedrooms.

  • Keep regular contact with local authority housing support teams, housing portal website / on line resources, Registered Social Landlords, Local Authority Support Staff, landlords, agents and charitable organisations providing accommodation options within your region for delivery.
  • Develop relationships and maintain relationships with new and existing accommodation providers, landlords and agents who accept people claiming Universal Credit and Housing benefit.
  • Ensure properties provided meet health and safety and property standards and legal requirements through health and safety checks relating to the provision of energy performance certificate, smoking and carbon monoxide monitors fitted and tested and gas safety certificate.
  • Work in a positive and can do manner, promoting and advocating on behalf of our service user group to landlords/local authorities and potential stakeholders
  • Liaise with appropriate local authority teams including, but not limited to, accessing rent in advance, social impact bonds and deposit and incentive schemes. In particular assisting with access to Discretionary Housing Payments for those that are unable to maintain payments on rent due.

 

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Possession of (or ability to be working towards) a recognised qualification on Information, advice and guidance, minimum Diploma Level 3, or similar/equivalent.
  • Experience: 1+ years working as a Housing Officer in the UK.
  • Compliance: Up to date DBS is required. Prison vetting clearance is required.
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37.5 hours p/w.
