Lead Substance Misuse Nurse

  • Salary: £40 - £50 per hour

Seven Criminal Justice are currently seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Lead Substance Misuse Nurse for a full-time position in Barking & Dagenham.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead and manage the nursing team in providing exceptional care for individuals suffering from substance misuse.

2. Oversee the implementation of a structured care plan tailored to every patient’s specific needs.

3. Conduct patient assessments, screenings, and assist in managing withdrawal symptoms and medication.

4. Provide clinical advice and supervision to nursing staff and support workers.

5. Liaise with external agencies, ensuring efficient communication and collaboration.

6. Develop policies and procedures adhering to UK Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) code of conduct.

7. Offer counseling and support to patients and their families.

8. Participate in continuing education and training programs to stay updated with the latest practices and treatments in substance misuse.

9. Maintain accurate and confidential patient records and reports in accordance with GDPR regulations.

10. Adhere to health and safety protocols, ensuring a safe environment for both staff and patients.

Qualifications:

1. Must be a Registered Nurse with the NMC.

2. A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role dealing with substance misuse.

3. Excellent knowledge and understanding of substance misuse issues and treatments.

4. Strong communication and leadership skills.

5. Demonstrated ability to empathize and connect with patients battling substance misuse issues.

6. Committed to continuing professional development.

7. Proficient in computer systems and databases pertinent to healthcare settings.

8. Strength in working collaboratively with healthcare professionals, patients, families, and the community at large.
