Prison Nurse

  • Salary: £34 - £35 per hour
  • Type: Temporary / Full Time

Seven Criminal Justice are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Prison Nurse to fill a position in Cheshire Styal, UK. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge in nursing and be registered with the NMC.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Providing holistic and comprehensive nursing care to inmates within the scope of practice based on the nursing process.

2. Assessing healthcare needs, planning, delivering and evaluating care in order to meet those needs.

3. Responding to medical emergencies and providing care in coordination with other healthcare professionals within the prison health centre.

4. Administering medications, monitoring and recording the results of treatment.

5. Working in collaboration with other professionals to ensure the physical, psychological and social wellbeing of offenders.

6. Keeping accurate, detailed reports and records and maintaining patient health records.

7. Implementing strategies to manage chronic illnesses of inmates (such as diabetes, HIV/AIDS, and mental health issues).

Qualifications:

1. Registered nursing qualification and current NMC registration.

2. Experience in working in a prison or secure environment is desirable but not mandatory.

3. Experience of working autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team.

4. A clear understanding of the challenges of providing high-quality health care within a secure environment.

5. Proven record of commitment to professional development and an eagerness to learn from experiences and use these to improve personal capabilities.

6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt and respond to diverse needs of inmates, staff and other stakeholders.
