Prison Nurse – (Registered General Nurse) RGN

Seven Criminal Justice have an exciting opportunity for a Registered General Nurse (RGN) to join our compassionate and dedicated healthcare team within a prison environment in Kirkham. The candidate will be providing a full spectrum of healthcare services to offenders, working alongside multidisciplinary teams to deliver care and rehabilitate patients within a challenging yet rewarding setting.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide high-quality nursing care to individuals in a correctional facilities.

2. Initiate emergency interventions in response to the health needs of prisoners.

3. Monitor and assess health conditions of the patients regularly and develop individual care plans.

4. Perform physical examinations, order tests, prescribe medications, and maintain patient’s health records.

5. Assist doctors during health clinics and carry out instructions for treatment.

6. Communicate efficiently with the multidisciplinary team to inform them about patient’s status and progress.

7. Adhere to correctional facility policies, procedures, and guidelines.

8. Comply with health and safety guidelines, ensuring the well-being of all patients and staff.

Qualifications:

1. Must be a Registered General Nurse with the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council).

2. Previous experience working in a prison setting is advantageous but not essential.

3. Excellent communicative, interpersonal and teamwork skills.

4. In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures.

5. Ability to handle medical, psychiatric, and emerging situations in a calm and confident manner.

6. Familiarity with the empowerment, recovery, and rehabilitation model of nursing.

7. Excellent observation skills with the ability to identify symptoms of illness/injury and take appropriate action.

8. Must pass background checks, including DBS check.

NOTE: All applicants must be eligible to work in the UK and vaccination against Hepatitis B, TB (Tuberculosis), Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella or immunity to these diseases is a job requirement.
