Prison Nurse – (Registered General Nurse) RGN

  • Salary: £25 - £35 per hour
  • Type: Temporary / Full Time

Seven Criminal Justice are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered General Nurse (RGN) to work in a prison setting in Preston. The ideal candidate will provide top quality nursing care and support to the prison’s diverse inmate community.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Undertake full and comprehensive health care assessments, identifying and taking appropriate action for any patient condition which may need immediate urgent attention.

2. Administer medication as prescribed by medical professionals and in accordance with the NMC Code.

3. Handle medical emergencies and provide wound care.

4. Liaise with prison officers, social workers, mental health professionals and other stakeholders to provide holistic nursing care.

5. Develop health care plans for prisoners and provide them with appropriate advice and support regarding health related matters.

6. Participate in inmate rehabilitation programmes where possible and appropriate.

7. Follow strict professional, ethical, and legal codes of practice.

8. Ensure maintenance of clinical records and other paperwork.

Qualifications and Experience:

* Must be a qualified Registered General Nurse with valid NMC Pin.

* Previous experience within a secure environment or experience with substance misuse/addiction is desirable.

* Knowledge of key issues affecting health care within prison settings.

* Excellent interpersonal communication skills.

* Ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team.

* Good organizational and record-keeping skills.

The successful candidate will need to undergo security clearance for this role.
