Prison Nurse – (Registered General Nurse) RGN

Seven Criminal Justice are seeking a committed and experienced Registered General Nurse (RGN) to work in a prison environment in Durham.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Provide high standard nursing care to prisoners, ensuring their physical, psychological, and emotional needs are met.

2. Conduct thorough health assessments and manage emergencies as they arise.

3. Perform various medical procedures, including wound dressing, administering medication, and routine check-ups.

4. Maintain comprehensive medical records for each inmate, documenting their health progress and treatment plans.

5. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team comprising doctors, psychiatrists, and other healthcare professionals in providing complete care to patients.

6. Promote inmate health education, advising them on health lifestyle and disease prevention.

7. Adhere to security procedures, ensuring the safety and welfare of yourself, colleagues, and prisoners.

Qualifications:

1. Current, valid registration as a Registered Nurse (Adult) with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

2. Proven experience working as an RGN, ideally within a prison setting, although not essential.

3. A broad base of nursing skills associated with managing a caseload within an acute, primary care or secure environment will be advantageous.

4. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

5. Strong communication, observation, and interpersonal skills.
