Prisoner Support Worker

  • Salary: £13 - £18 per hour

Seven Criminal Justice are seeking an empathetic and dedicated Prisoner Support Worker to join our team in Risley. The ideal candidate will work directly with prisoners to promote rehabilitation and prepare them for reintroduction into the community.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Provide support and guidance, addressing any concerns or issues that prisoners may have.

2. Assist in rehabilitation programs tailored to meet each individual’s needs and encourage participation in constructive activities.

3. Monitor and report any changes in behaviour, health or safety concerns.

4. Collaborate closely with the prison staff, healthcare departments and social services.

5. Facilitate educational courses and work skills training to aid inmates’ transition into society.

6. Manage records and report to management on inmates’ progress, behaviour and overall well-being.

Qualifications:

1. A degree or qualification in social work, psychology, counselling, criminology, or a related field.

2. Proven work experience in social care or a prison environment would be advantageous.

3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

4. A strong commitment to equality, diversity and human rights.

5. Ability to handle stressful situations, make difficult decisions, and resolve conflicts.

6. Must pass a thorough background check and uphold strict confidentiality requirements.

7. Must complete and maintain appropriate crisis intervention and physical restraint training.

In addition to the above, candidates should have an understanding and commitment to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of those they will be in contact with.
