Job Description:

As a Prison Support Worker in Risley, you will play a critical role in supporting the rehabilitation and resettlement of offenders back into society. You will work within the prison service, providing the necessary support and guidance to people in custody. This role requires a strong individual who can handle challenging situations while maintaining a patient and understanding approach towards prisoners.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Providing comprehensive support to prisoners, including emotional support, mentoring, and guidance to help them cope with their incarceration.

2. Collaborating with fellow professionals to implement rehabilitation programs aimed towards behavioural change, education and employment.

3. Ensuring all prisoners are treated fairly and respectfully, in accordance with prison rules and regulations.

4. Addressing prisoners’ needs, grievances, and concerns as per required guidelines.

5. Managing potential conflicts or disruptive behaviour effectively and promptly.

6. Maintaining accurate and detailed case records about each prisoner under your care.

7. Assisting in the planning and coordination of meetings, workshops, and training sessions.

8. Participating in the provision of resettlement services to help ease prisoners’ transition back into the community.

Qualifications and Experience:

1. A diploma or degree in social work, psychology, counselling, or a related field.

2. Prior experience in a prison, probationary, or similar support role is desirable.

3. A strong understanding of risks and challenges associated with prison work.

4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

5. Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly and maintain confidentiality.

6. Requires DBS Check.
