Substance Misuse Nurse

Seven Criminal Justice are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Misuse Nurse to join our team within the Peterborough region. This challenging yet highly rewarding role involves providing effective and professional nursing care to individuals struggling with substance misuse. You will be working at the forefront of our organization, supporting patients through their recovery.

Responsibilities:

1. Carry out initial assessments on patients to determine their physical and mental health, as well as the extent of their substance misuse.

2. Develop personalized care plans for each patient, ensuring these are continually reviewed and updated to meet changing needs.

3. Provide harm reduction advice, support, and guidance to patients and their families.

4. Administer controlled medications responsibly, monitor patient responses, and record outcomes.

5. Support patients through detoxification where necessary, managing withdrawal symptoms effectively.

6. Liaise with multi-disciplinary teams and other relevant agencies to coordinate patient care.

7. Continuously strive to improve the quality of the service provided and to maintain a supportive, safe environment for patients and staff.

Qualifications:

1. Valid NMC registration.

2. Previous experience in the field of substance misuse.

3. A strong understanding of the issues faced by patients suffering from substance misuse.

4. Sufficient knowledge of administering medication and managing detoxification.

5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

6. Proven ability to work both individually and as part of a team.

7. Basic IT skills to update patient records and write up reports.
