Substance Misuse Nurse

Seven Criminal Justice are actively seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and technically skilled Substance Misuse Nurse to join our team in Southend. The applicant will significantly contribute to delivering person-centered recovery for individuals battling addiction issues, working alongside a dedicated multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide specialised care and support to patients suffering from substance misuse issues.

2. Evaluate patients’ health conditions and discuss the most suitable treatment plans.

3. Administer prescribed drugs and treatment according to patients’ individual recovery plans.

4. Develop trusting relationships with patients to encourage their commitment to treatment.

5. Educate patients and their families about substance misuse, its effects, and the process of recovery.

6. Promote harm reduction and recovery principles.

7. Regularly liaise with community agencies and treatment services.

8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in line with established protocols.

9. Comply with all legal requirements, ethical standards, and hospital policies.

Qualifications:

1. Registered General Nurse (RGN) or Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMHN) with active NMC pin.

2. Experience working with substance misuse patients or in a similar role is preferred.

3. Excellent understanding of substance misuse issues and treatment approaches.

4. Demonstrable ability to work independently and as part of a team.

5. Outstanding communication, interpersonal and empathy skills.

6. Ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality.

7. Up-to-date knowledge of health and safety protocols, including infection prevention and control protocols.
