Substance Misuse Nurse

Seven Criminal Justice are  looking for a dedicated and empathetic Substance Misuse Nurse to join our team in Norfolk, specifically in King’s Lynn. This role involves working in a challenging but rewarding environment, providing critical support and guidance to individuals struggling with substance misuse.

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct patient assessments to ascertain substance misuse levels and create appropriate care plans to address the addiction and any related health concerns 2. Manage medication regimes for patients, ensuring their safety and adherence to treatment plans.

3. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and occupational therapists, to provide holistic care to patients.

4. Educate patients, families, and communities about the risks and effects of substance misuse.

5. Monitor patients’ recovery progress closely and adapt care plans as needed.

6. Administer the necessary treatments, including withdrawal management and detoxification processes.

7. Maintain accurate, complete health care records and reports.

8. Advocate for the needs of individuals struggling with substance misuse to promote understanding and compassion within the wider community.

Requirements:

1. Valid NMC registration as a Nurse.

2. Extensive experience in a similar role, preferably within a substance misuse setting.

3. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work well within a team.

4. Comprehensive understanding of the issues related to drug and alcohol misuse and the associated legislation.

5. Flexible approach to working hours to meet the needs of the service.

6. Able to work under pressure and with individuals who may present challenging behaviours.

7. Understanding and empathy for the complexities patients face when overcoming addiction.

The successful candidate will be subject to a DBS check.
