Substance Misuse Recovery / Support Worker

Seven Criminal Justice are seeking an empathetic and dedicated Substance Misuse Recovery / Support Worker to join our interdisciplinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support and assistance to individuals suffering from substance abuse in Sheffield.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide emotional and practical support to clients who are overcoming substance misuse.

2. Undertake risk assessments, develop person-centred recovery plans, and regularly review these to track progress and adapt to changing needs.

3. Deliver harm minimisation advice and facilitate both one-to-one and group therapeutic sessions.

4. Coordinate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure all aspects of client wellbeing are met, including liaising with healthcare providers, social services and housing agencies.

5. Administer prescribed medication and monitor clients for potential side effects.

6. Maintain accurate, timely records and reports, safeguarding client confidentiality at all times.

7. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, identifying issues, implementing changes, and promoting service user involvement.

8. Provide guidance and motivation to service users to help them develop skills for independent living.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. A recognised qualification in Health & Social Care or related field, or comparable experience in substance misuse recovery support.

2. Extensive knowledge of substance misuse issues and the recovery process.

3. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to form trusting relationships.

4. An ability to cope with emotional and challenging situations, demonstrating resilience and professionalism.

5. A commitment to equality, diversity and rights of service users.

6. Understanding of confidentiality and data protection principles.

7. Flexibility to work different shifts, including evenings and weekends.

8. A clear DBS check is essential.
