Substance Misuse Worker

Seven Criminal Justice are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Substance Misuse Worker for a role based in Bury St Edmunds. This position involves working with individuals suffering from substance misuse issues. The Substance Misuse Worker will form a critical part of the team offering support, counselling, and assistance to these individuals.

Key responsibilities:

1. Provide comprehensive support to individuals recovering from substance misuse, including alcohol, illicit drugs, and prescription drugs.

2. Carry out assessments to understand the support required by each individual.

3. Develop personalized care plans which promote healthy lifestyles and coping mechanisms.

4. Engage service users in one-to-one or group counselling sessions.

5. Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to provide well-coordinated care.

6. Actively monitor and record the progress of service users throughout their recovery journey.

7. Deliver harm reduction advice, education, and best practice protocols where necessary.

8. Liaise with external agencies and families to ensure the right support systems are in place.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

1. Certified professional in a related field (nursing, counselling, social work)

2. Experience in working with individuals dealing with substance misuse.

3. Excellent communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills.

4. Knowledge of the latest care standards, guidelines, and procedures in substance misuse recovery.

5. Good administrative and computer skills for report writing and maintaining records.

6. Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

7. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.

8. Successful candidates will be required to complete a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.

9. Flexibility to work shifts including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, if required.
