Youth Justice Worker | £31.78P/H | Wokingham

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and adaptable individual who is passionate about providing excellent youth support and the delivery of clean safe care.

This is a full-time position working 9-5 every week, with a contract length of 3-6 months (opportunity to become permanent once contract is complete)

Please note, we require with at least 1-2 years experience in a previous similar role, this includes job roles in probation.

As a Youth Justice Worker, you will work with children who are at risk of offending, of harming others or of being harmed, including children at risk of exploitation (Prevention strand). You will also work with children who have already entered the criminal justice system on Out of Court Disposals (Diversion strand) and post Court (Statutory strand). You must be able and willing to hold a caseload with a mixtures of the three strands of work.

You must be able to conduct assessments to identify and analyse the underlying causes for children’s behaviour or offending. You must also be able to assess and manage the three domains of risk: serious harm; re-offending; safety and wellbeing. You will have to co-produce an intervention plan to support children with creative, relationship-based interventions utilising the latest evidence based practice. You will also have to act as Court officer and as Appropriate Adult for children in police custody.

We are a trauma informed service, and we use case formulation to support our work. Our assessment tools include the YJB approved Asset Plus, which you should be familiar with. You will have experience of analytical and critical writing, and be knowledgeable about the relevant legislation National Standards and YJB best practice guidance. You will also have to work with a range of agencies and teams to support the children you are working with.
