Education Advisor

Seven Resourcing are looking for an interim Virtual School Key Stage 5 Education Advisor to work in Southwark. This position is initially for a period of 3 months and is paying £25.00 (PAYE) or £32.22 (umbrella) per hour. The working hours are Monday – Friday from 9am – 5pm. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • To support the Key Stage 5 Deputy Head teacher, in driving up improvements in the educational progress and attainment of all KS5 looked after children, including those that have been placed in schools in other Local Authorities. The Education Advisor will have a focus on KS5, UCAS, Higher Education and supporting NEET young people to return to  EET.
  • To secure and raise levels of pupil engagement with education through effective support, challenge and intervention.
  • To provide information, advice and guidance to help young people make realistic choices about their education, training and work, in light of their location and local opportunity.
  • To attend and chair, as appropriate, Personal Education Plan (PEP) meetings for identified pupils and other multi-disciplinary meetings as required to review, progress and address identified problems.
  • To communicate promptly and effectively with others, collaborating within the Virtual School service and contributing to team work and priority outcomes for the service, also ensuring that partners understand their role, service objectives and how these fit in with broader corporate parenting commitments
  • To carry a caseload of looked after children.
  • To ensure that the Personal Education Plan process is implemented and managed according to statutory timescales, and that a high quality record of the Personal Education Plan is finalised on the child’s file.
  • The Virtual School must be able to respond to the sudden and constantly changing needs of the young people it supports. Staff must be flexible and willing to take the nature of the service into account when carrying out the accountabilities of the post.
  • To provide support and challenge within the professional network to ensure that high aspirations are promoted and that children’s needs are met well, by requesting urgent reviews or chairing professionals meetings when required about education matters.

Applicant Requirements:

Qualifications:

      University Degree at grade 2:2 or above.

Experience: 1+ year of experience working within a virtual school.

Compliance: Proof of ability to work and live in the UK. Current DBS and 2 x references. 

Hours: 36 hours p/w.
