Education Inclusion Officer

Seven Resourcing are looking for a temporary Education Inclusion Officer to work in Scunthorpe. This position is initially for a period of 3 months and is paying £18.80 per hour (paid to you via an umbrella company). The working hours are Monday – Friday from 9am – 5pm. 

The role:

To undertake the statutory and legal functions of the local authority in respect of irregular school attendance, children missing in education, elective home education, child employment and performance licensing, excluded pupils, alternative provision and personalised learning.

Work with children, families and multi-agency partners to identify and overcome individual barriers to learning and impact positively on the life chances on all our children and young people, including those in care and North Lincolnshire’s identified vulnerable groups. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish, develop and maintain relationships with school based and out of school provision staff.
  • Manages a diverse caseload – which includes statutory interventions.
  • Undertakes Early Help Assessments, or other agreed assessments including ATTEND framework, as required.
  • Work in partnership with schools, education settings and multi-agency partner’s, monitor and ensure that all children and young people have access to an education suitable to their needs including an emphasis, where necessary, on 1:1 mentoring support and devising, implementing and evaluating individual programmes of support.
  • Act as lead professional for cases relating to irregular school attendance and personalised learning and co-ordinate other identified intervention within a multiagency setting including facilitation of meetings with parents/carers and young people to review progress.
  • Use and initiate the full range of legal tools and parental responsibility measures to enforce regular school attendance and carry out all actions connecting with transitioning the case through the legal process, including the preparation of witness statements and court reports.
  • Provide advice and guidance in respect of current legislation, regulations and national, regional and local best practice around all aspects of the statutory and non-statutory duties, in relation to this role with emphasis on regular school attendance, attainment, alternative provision and children in care.
  • Act as the named responsible officer in respect of any court orders issued by the magistrates and manage that order in line with statutory responsibilities.

Applicant Requirements:

Qualifications:

      Level 4 qualification in a relevant discipline. 

Experience: Previous experience in supporting school attendance. Previous experience in supporting children and young people to meet learning outcomes and reach their potential. 

Compliance: Proof of ability to work and live in the UK. Current DBS and 2 x references. 

Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.

Hours: 37 hours p/w.
