Electrical Engineering Lecturer

Seven Education has an exciting new opportunity to work in the beautiful city of London. We are looking for an Electrical Engineering Lecturer at Kingston College. £22,293 – £39,821 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance, immediate start!

The role:

The focus of this role is to teach both HE and FE vocational courses related to engineering, predominantly on vocational Level 2/3 programmes within the school. You will be responsible for the recruitment, conduct and progress of all students on these courses in line with College and School policies and procedures and ensuring the provision, for these students, of high quality pastoral support.
The specific required areas of engineering are Level 2/3 programmable logic controllers (PLCs), electrical & electronic principles, Industrial Process Controllers and electrical machines although offering other engineering areas up to Level 5 would be an advantage e.g. microcontrollers, electronics. You may be asked to contribute also to the HE teaching in vocational engineering. A key focus is in helping the Head of Section ensure that your students meet and exceed their target grades and supporting members of the teaching team. This role is about providing a high-quality student experience and outstanding outcomes in Engineering. The role encompasses working on teaching schemes, assessment schedules (including coursework) and student monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsible to: The Head of the School. Day-to-day line management will be the responsibility of the Section Head / Deputy Head of School Engineering.

  • Teaching theoretical and practical workshop sessions relating to Level 2/3 Engineering/Maintenance apprentices and full time Level 2-5 students studying Engineering subjects.
  • Conduct the assessment and monitoring of candidates on such courses; complete all administrative work connected with the assessments.
  • Keep and maintain accurate records of all forms of assessments according to the College and awarding body requirements.
  • Provide prompt and constructive feedback to candidates soon after assessment.
  • Make sure that assessment strategies used are inclusive (regardless of gender, age, origin etc.)
  • Embrace new technologies and updating learning materials for use on new learning platforms.
  • Contribute as appropriate, to the development, marketing and recruitment for both new and established courses provided by the School of Engineering.
  • Act, when required, as Internal Verifier within the curriculum area.
  • Organise additional support necessary for learners who are under-achieving.

Candidates will hold a degree or professional qualification in an area relevant to the work in the School. They should also have a teaching qualification.
Non-qualified candidates must achieve the Preparing to Teach Award (PTLLS) within one year of the start of their employment with the College and the Diploma in Teaching in the Life Long Learning Sector (DTLLS), including gaining QTLS within five years, as outlined in the Further Education Teachers’ Qualifications (England) Regulations 2007 and 2001.
