Inclusive Learning Lecturer and Exam Access Assessor

Seven Education is looking for an Inclusive Learning Lecturer to work as a temporary member of staff within Carshalton as a part of South Thames College Group.

The role:

      The post holder will be required to assess learners who have a wide range of inclusive needs and to ensure that the leaners are offered the maximum opportunity to meet their full potential. Demonstrate inspirational teaching, learning and assessment practice.

Work in partnership with the curriculum areas to plan a path for each learner along with specific targets which will guide and enable the young person to succeed and progress.

Work in partnership with the exams and Inclusive Learning teams to process and effectively deliver Exam Assess Arrangements that meet JCQ requirements.

Act as a mentor for learners by offering academic support and guidance.

This is a very specialised position focusing on the gaps in learner’s skills which may on occasions require intense intervention.

Key Responsibilities:

 

 

 

 

 

      Provide a rich and stretching learning experience for learners and initiate improvements in learner recruitment, retention, achievement and progression. This may include whole group, small group and 1:1 teaching.

Ensure that the student needs are met in a responsive way, in line with the concept of inclusive learning.

Demonstrate understanding, knowledge and offer guidance and support around key additional needs, for example, autism and dyslexia.

Use the RARPA process to measure and evidence progress and achievement.

Use a range of teaching and learning strategies appropriate to the individual needs of the learners.

Conduct exam access arrangement assessments for Form 8s to meet JCQ requirements and to support learners.

Regularly review and adapts own teaching materials in response to both internal and external factors such as learner feedback, new research and CPD.

Takes part in the review and evaluation of support in line with the College’s quality systems.

Offers advice and guidance to cross college curriculum teams and inclusion staff on effective strategies to support learners with specific learning difficulties in the classroom.

Develop curricula and learning activities in conjunction with curriculum areas, taking into consideration literacy and numeracy development, and equality and diversity

Demonstrate understanding of the cross college vocational curriculum offers to provide and share effective strategies to engage and motivate learners with additional needs.

To take an active role in the achievement of high individual student retention and success rates, meeting or surpassing the relevant targets for each

Continually updates and improves professional knowledge in relation to relevant legislation and funding.

Maintains contact with parents/ guardians, employers, education providers and other agencies as appropriate.

Continually updates and improves professional knowledge in relation to strategies which engage and motivate learners with specific learning difficulties

Keeps accurate learning support data and high quality records to meet audit standards and deadlines.

Communicates effectively with all professionals involved in the young person’s journey.

Understands personal responsibilities in relation to Safeguarding.

Keep up-to-date with current issues, changes, and policies relating to the educational sector
