Seven Education is looking for an Head of Section in Kingston within Engineering at South Thames Colleges Group

The role:

The Head of Section for Engineering will lead and manage the engineering section and be a member of the School Management Group (SMG). The Head of Section and other members of SMG are responsible for communicating the policies and procedures we agree and adopt such as; target-setting, progress review calendars for example, and then ensuring that all staff deliver them to a high quality and comply with the expectations set.

You will teach on the engineering programmes, focussing on the BTEC programmes and should have an excellent general engineering background. Ideally, you will be able to deliver the following engineering areas – Mechanical Maintenance, Welding, Mechanical Systems and fabrication.

The role carries with it a professional responsibility to be a highly competent user of key College systems and to be thoroughly acquainted with all College policies and procedures.

Specific duties:

Membership of SMG and a visible presence around the Section of Engineering

Holding regular briefings for staff in the Section

Being highly familiar with the funding and awarding body requirements, including internal and external verification/moderation for the curriculum in the Section of Engineering, undertaking the role of Lead IV as appropriate.

Ensure that recruitment targets are met particularly in growth areas.

Setting and standardising the work that students do through comparison, where available, to national performance indicators and monitoring their work against this.
