SEN Casework Assistant

Seven Resourcing are looking for a temporary SEN Casework Assistant to work in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. This position is initially for a period of 3 months and is paying from £14.63 – £18.48 per hour (PAYE and umbrella payment options are available). The role will involve working part-time – 3 days per week. The days you work can be flexible.

The role:

The post holder is required to support the Special Educational Needs Service Manager in the efficient and effective delivery of the statutory functions of the Local Authority with regards to pupils with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and the Annual Review process.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Be responsible to the Special Educational Needs Service Manager who is in turn responsible for the post holder’s health and safety, training and development.

Be responsible for caseload management and contribution to the development of the team in respect to changing legislation.

Manage the LA process for Annual Reviews for mainstream pupils in line with LA policies and SEN legislation and to the standards expected in the SEND Code of Practice 0-25.

Coordinate the Annual Review process for those children with EHCP’s who are electively home educated.

To represent the LA at targeted annual reviews within education settings.

To scrutinise provision being delivered to the pupil – and the level of funding required to deliver the interventions specified in the EHCP.

To advise and guide settings and parents in ensuring that all SEN pupils continue to access mainstream settings where it remains within the best interests of the child/young person.

To amend Education, Health & Care Plans ensuring they conform to legal requirements and are clear, comprehensive and helpful. To ensure that placement/provision/transport and arrangements with Social Care and Safeguards, the NHS Trust and other agencies are conducted efficiently.

To support the SEND Team in meeting the local performance indicators in completing the Annual Review process within statutory timescales.

Applicant Requirements:

 

Qualifications: N/A.

Experience: 1+ year of experience within a similar role.

Compliance: Proof of ability to work and live in the UK. Current DBS check and references covering the last 5 years.

Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.

Hours: 37 hours p/w.
