SEND Team Manager

Seven Resourcing are looking for an interim SEND Team Manager to work in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. This position is initially for a period of 3 months and is paying £26.46 – £32.97 per hour (PAYE and Umbrella payment options available).

The role:

The post holder is required to support the Special Educational Needs Service Manager in the efficient and effective delivery of the statutory functions of the Local Authority with regards to pupils with SEN who may require an Education Health and Care plan. The post holder will be expected to represent the LA at SEN tribunals when required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible to the Special Educational Needs Service Manager who is in turn responsible for the post holder’s health and safety, training and development.
• To ensure all Statutory functions of SEN are completed for Shropshire Council.
• Manage the operational functions of the SEN Team in relation to the roles and responsibilities of SEN officers (0 to 25) and the statutory processes for which the team is responsible including oversight of and responsibility for meeting statutory timescales and KPIs.
• To be responsible for the ongoing improvement programme for the SEN Team (in line with statutory framework for SEND and local policy and practice) including the integration of policies, processes, procedures and pathways.
• Provide specialist knowledge in respect of SEN and represent Shropshire at regional and national forums.
• Ensure there is a robust, efficient and effective system of identifying, assessing and meeting needs of children with complex SEN from the early years onwards, that supports timely identification, joined up working, a tell it once approach and a focus on outcomes and preparation for adulthood.
• To oversee the statutory assessment process from first referral to completion ensuring this is carried out in line with LA policies and SEN legislation to the standards and timescales expected in the Code of Practice 0-25.
• To ensure high quality EHCP’s are produced that conform to legal requirements and enable children and young people to achieve positive outcomes in line with the SEND strategy.
• To be responsible for managing all SEN panel processes and make recommendations/decisions as appropriate.
• To ensure that the LA fully meets statutory requirements for annual reviews, including for transition reviews.
• To maintain oversight of the outcomes for children and young people with an EHCP and ensure that these are used to inform strategic planning of SEND across the system.

Applicant Requirements:

• Qualifications: An honours degree or equivalent higher education qualification or equivalent experience gained.
• Experience: 1+ year of experience within a similar role.
• Compliance: Proof of ability to work and live in the UK. Current DBS check and references covering the last 2 years.
• Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
• Hours: 37 hours p/w.
