Special Educational Needs Keyworker

Seven Education is looking for an SEN Keyworker, to work in the London Borough of Islington.

This role is a locum position, paying £32.86 per hour, working with young people from ages 0-25 with SEN and disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the authority complies with the SEND Code of Practice including adhering to statutory timeframes and processes for both new assessment and plans and annual reviews of Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plans
  • Coordinating EHC needs assessments for children and young people with complex needs and their corresponding annual reviews
  • Acting as a single point of regular and consistent contact for these children, young people and their families, providing information and advice about services and support available.
  • Supporting children and families through assessment and planning processes, and empowering them to make informed decisions.
  • Supporting children and families to secure an appropriate school place and access other services they need.
  • Liaising with Education, Health, Social Care, and Voluntary Sector agencies.
  • Coordinating different services, practitioners and agencies, including organising Team around the Child/Family meetings.
  • Carrying out duties sensitively, with the needs and circumstances of children, young people and their families in mind
  • To liaise with other local authorities regarding children with statements of SEN / Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) moving into and out of Islington.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Professional qualification or studying towards a professional qualification in a relevant field e.g. Education, Health, Social Care, Youth Work or substantial experience in a similar role.
  • Experience: 1+ year of experience in a similar role, in the UK.
  • Compliance: Proof of ability to work and live in the UK. 
  • Hours: 35 hours p/w.
