Teaching Assistant

Seven Resourcing are looking for a temporary Teaching Assistant to work at a Primary School in Scunthorpe. This position is initially for a period of 4 months and is paying £16.00 – £20.00 per hour (paid to you via an umbrella company).

The role:

The role is in a classroom base attached to a School for Primary age children with Autism and/or social communication challenges. It is primarily to support the classroom teacher but will also have some supervisory (of students) and administrative tasks associated with it.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Under direction, provide specialist learning support to individuals, small groups, or young women with additional needs who would benefit from a different learning approach.
  • Encourage and promote the inclusion and acceptance of all young women.
  • Liaise with specialist services on behalf of individual young women, e.g. educational psychologists, speech therapists, by agreement with the class teacher.
  • Provide feedback to the young women in relation to progress and achievement.
  • Work with the teacher in lesson planning, evaluating and adjusting lessons/work plans as appropriate
  • Monitor and evaluate the young women’s responses to learning activities through observation and planned recording of achievement against pre-determined learning objectives.
  • Provide regular feedback to the teacher on the young women’s achievement, progress and other matters
  • Contribute to behaviour management within the school and take charge of situations to allow the teacher to continue to work with the rest of the class.
  • Undertake support activities for the teacher as required, including the management of classroom resources.
  • Implement agreed learning activities/teaching programmes, adjusting activities according to the young women’s responses/needs.
  • Help young women to access learning activities through specialist support.
  • Attend all staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Liaise closely with all staff at Clare Lodge and other professionals working with resident young women.
  • Ensure diversity and culture are recognised, celebrated and considered in all work.
  • Attend supervision and performance management meetings with the Head Teacher / Deputy Head teacher
  • Inform the Head Teacher of emerging issues relating to either the education of individual residents or the operation of the Secure Children’s Home as a whole.
  • Carry out any other appropriate tasks as required by the Head Teacher and the Deputy Head.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: N/A.
  • Experience: 1+ year of experience within a similar role.
  • Compliance: Proof of ability to work and live in the UK. Current DBS and references covering the past 3 years.
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37 hours p/w.
