Accommodation Officer

Seven Resourcing are looking for an Accommodation Officer in Dorset. This position is initially for a period of 3 months and is paying £15.77per hour (PAYE ) or £20 per hour (umbrella). The working hours are Monday – Friday from 8:30am – 5:15pm. Hybrid working.

The role:

To work closely with the Housing Options Team in placing emergency households into accommodation.  To work closely with Senior Housing Solutions Officer, Accommodation Officers, and Housing Options officers to identify those placed under emergency provisions into alternative temporary accommodation as they become void.

Key Responsibilities:

 

To arrange placement of clients into temporary accommodation, including sourcing and arranging emergency placements.

To control the council’s liability, monitor HB payments, tackle anti-social behaviour, pursue accommodation charge arrears, investigate suspected abandonment, eviction process, organise storage and disposal of former occupiers’ possessions whilst in emergency placements.

To maintain and update comprehensive records in connection with the management, maintenance and costs associated with the council’s temporary accommodation and occupants as required.

To act as a point of liaison between the council and stakeholders, to include temporary accommodation landlords, the police and social services, and Housing Officers.

To work in close collaboration with both the Team Leaders and seniors for Housing Solutions and Homeless Prevention and advice, regarding the suitability of move on temporary accommodation and the support needs for individuals.

Monitor the generic Accommodation team inbox, responding, actioning, or signposting where applicable.

Ensuring that those applicants being considered under Part VI for social housing accommodation, are aware of their responsibilities around their vacation dates, removal of all belongings to avoid further costs.

Provide Property Assets, list of all Temporary Accommodation occupiers details on a weekly basis to ensure that compliance works can be undertaken for H&S reasons.

To provide timely, accurate statistics for government returns and other in-house statistics on a monthly, or otherwise agreed basis.

Applicant Requirements:

 

Experience:  2+ years working within supporting or advising vulnerable customers regarding housing and/or housing support issues.

Compliance:  Proof of right to work in the UK and 2 x references. 

Travel:  Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.

Hours:  37 hours p/w.
