Seven Resourcing are looking for 2 temporary Pod Advisors to work with Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Adult Learning Department. These positions are initially for a period of 5 months and are paying £11.81 (PAYE) or £14.77 (umbrella). The working hours are Monday – Friday from 9am – 5:30pm. 

The role:
The Advice POD will be a one stop shop of various local services seeking to help residents/customers to access some basic support services (helping complete benefit forms, help with financial management, digital skills etc). The longer-term aim is to help customers develop skills and motivation to progress into other services including Adult Community Learning and Employability services. The post holder will be required to build on exciting relationships and partnerships within the Vale of Glamorgan to ensure adequate support service are available to individuals visiting the Advice POD. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • To actively support the Advice POD Co-Ordinator and other colleagues ensuring a seamless connection to the CfW, Adult Community Learning and other council and none council projects/initiatives and staff.
  • To contribute to the day to day smooth, efficient running and high quality of the core Advice Pod services and its developed outreach advice services.
  • To collate and maintain monitoring data of caseload to ensure accurate performance requirements, to allow accurate reporting inline with Council compliance requirements.
  • Ensuring relevant data is archived in an official Council managed system.
  • To adhere to GDPR Act when collating and maintaining data.
  • To have responsibility of own caseload of clients, using a holistic, enabling and collaborative approach.
  • To provide advice and guidance to clients and motivate them to upskill, build confidence and explore employability services and further training.
  • To have a high level of digital skills to maintain system information as well as knowledge of Office 365 including, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • To be confident in assisting and supporting individuals digitally, as well as supporting with online applications forms, benefit enquiries, housing form and other support services requirements.
  • To ensure high quality communication skills which will enable you to deal with vulnerable adults that may have complex barriers to work, access to training, education, or utilising employability services within the Vale of Glamorgan Council.
  • To work in partnership with other stakeholders in the community to ensure relevant support is available for clients when visiting the POD.
  • To work with and provide links for Vale residents, the private sector and relevant agencies (voluntary and statutory), to gather information on and develop an understanding of the needs of the community and develop their capacity to tackle poverty.
  • To be active within the community to ensure a range of support is required, this will include travelling to other outreach centres within the Vale of Glamorgan to engage with harder to reach individuals.
  • To identify, deliver and assist in the provision of training needs for groups or individuals where relevant.
  • To share best practise and information on local activities.
  • Identify any training needs and take advantage of personal and professional development opportunities that are offered.
  • To ensure high standards and using the Vale of Glamorgan Council policies and processes.
  • To comply with the principles of confidentiality and data protection whilst working alongside residents, including young people and vulnerable adults. General Requirements:

  • To adhere to Health and Safety legislation / relevant Council policies and procedures and to take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be adversely affected by your acts / omissions.
  • Ensure compliance with the Council’s Financial Regulations, Standing Orders, Policies and Procedures.
  • To implement the principles of the Council’s Environment Policy while carrying out the above duties.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: N/A. 
  • Experience: 1+ year of experience within a similar role. 
  • Compliance: Proof of ability to work and live in the UK. 2 x references. 
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37 hours p/w.
