Approved Mental Health Professional

Seven Social Care are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Approved Mental Health Professional to join our dynamic team in the Reading, UK area. The successful candidate will provide high-quality mental health services to individuals in the community as part of a commitment to promoting their well-being.

Job Description:

As an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP), you will:

– Undertake assessments under the Mental Health Act 1983, including working independently and making sound decisions related to mental health issues.

– Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, service users, relatives, and carers.

– Promote the respect of human rights and dignity of service users.

– Conduct risk assessments and formulate effective management plans.

– Participate in on-call duties and be prepared to undertake emergency mental health interventions after hours if required.

– Maintain professional knowledge and competencies in relation to AMHP work through continuous professional development.

– Ensure that all statutory requirements, including documentation and record keeping, are met.

Requirements:

– British Association of Social Workers (BASW) registration or equivalent.

– Approval under section 114 of the Mental Health Act 1983 or a Post-Qualifying Specialist Social Work Award in Mental Health (AMHP training).

– Proven experience working as an AMHP with adults, children, and families in mental health crises.

– Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

– Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

– A flexible approach to working hours and the ability to work outside normal office hours if required.

– Knowledge of mental health conditions and treatments and an understanding of the social and personal impacts of mental health conditions.

– Clean UK driving license and access to a car for work purposes.
