Casework Officer (Special Educational Needs)

Seven Social Care are currently looking for a Casework Officer (Special Educational Needs) to start work in Liverpool. This is an interim post, initially for 6 months with the view to extending.  

You will support the Lead SEN Officer in planning, delivering, and monitoring the statutory assessment processes to ensure that Sefton pupils with SEN make good progress and that available resources are used effectively and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

To ensure that parents & young people are fully involved in drawing up statements/EHC plans, and in reviews and assessments.

To recognise the wide range of emotions that having a child with special needs may generate and ensure that the anxieties of parents/carers and other service users are diffused effectively.

To work in partnership with parents & other service users to ensure that the need for mediation, tribunal and dispute resolution procedures is kept to a minimum.

To support the Lead SEN Officer in preparing the papers for tribunal and formal mediation-and to deputise in the presentation of the authority’s case, if required.

Applicant Requirements:

Experience: Experience of working in local government, education settings or the voluntary sector with individuals, groups, and organisations.

Qualifications: Education to degree level in field relevant to the post

Compliance: Current enhanced DBS, right to work in the UK.

Hours : 36 hours a week, hybrid

Travel: To hold a driving license with relevant insurance and have access to a car for daily use
