Child Protection Qualified Social Worker

Seven Social Care is working with Leicestershire County Council to recruit a Qualified Social Worker for their Child Protection Service in Coalville.

Initial 3 month contract with the onlook of becoming on-going.

£35 – £38 per hour via umbrella depending on experience.

Full time role

Job Purpose:

You will be joining a service which provides a locality-based offer to children who are subject to Child in Need and Child Protection plans including where Court proceedings are instigated. A POD model is in place and you will have the support of Team Managers and Senior Practitioners. You will practice using the Signs of Safety approach and will be provided with training. Additional support services are in place to enhance the quality of intervention provided by the social workers in this service area. A locally based Service Manager provides oversight and guidance on high risk cases and provide focus on quality, standards and performance across the locality. 

Duties:

–    You will be an energetic and enthusiastic worker who demonstrates enthusiasm and passion for practice.

–    You will have experience of working in statutory children’s services and an in depth understanding of the interventions required to build safety and protect children from harm.

–    You will be able to evidence your skills and knowledge of creative, innovative and relationship-based social work, working in collaboration with families and professionals.

–    You have retained a strong interest in research and the evidence base for practice and are confident about how this can be used in practice

–    Ideally you will already be confident in the application of the Signs of Safety methodology but certainly in the value of relationship-based social work.

–    Able to apply principles of equal opportunities in practice.

–    Ability to communicate clearly (demonstrating the use of communication/engagement tools) with children, young people, parents/carers, colleagues and other professionals.

–    Ability to undertake assessment to a high standard.

–    Ability to analyse information to reach sound decision (demonstrating the use of risk management tools in analysis and decision making)

–    The ability to communicate clearly and accurately, both orally and in writing, with a wide range of people, including representatives from other agencies, using skills of negotiation and persuasion.

–    The ability to prioritise effectively across a wide range of competing demands to meet deadlines.

–    Time management skills and the ability to respond flexibly to changing requirements.

–    The ability to use information technology applications e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Word and database applications as relevant to the department.

–    Delivers a sustainable high service through understanding and keep to departmental and service priorities.

Key Experience:

–    Court work in regards to PLO and Private Law

–    Child protection, CIN and Lac previous experience 

–    Post-qualification experience of working with children and families.

–    Experience of statutory child care social work, including safeguarding, child protection and care proceedings.

–    Experience of supporting staff/colleagues or social work students.

–    Experience of working with service users from ethnic minorities and those who have a protected characteristic.

–    Continuing professional development, including self-development.

Team:

2x senior practitioners

4 x qualified social workers

2 support and assessment workers ( complete parenting assessments and provide support to children and families)

2 support workers (facilitate supervised contacts as a priority)

Hybrid working arrangements:    Yes and discussed with team manager, POD day is Monday and worker expected to be present in the office. 

Applicant Requirements:

Qualifications:

      Degree approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Experience: 2+ years working with children as a qualified Social Worker in the UK.

Compliance: Up to date HCPC registration and DBS.

Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.

Hours: 37.5 hours p/w.
