Childrens MASH Social Worker

Seven Social Care are seeking a committed and experienced Children’s MASH Social Worker to join our team in Walsall. Working within the council’s Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH), you’ll be a part of the first response team which collaborates closely with other agencies to ensure the welfare and protection of children and young people in the Walsall area.

Responsibilities:

1. Be the first point of contact for child safety concerns and inquiries, making vital decisions on necessary actions.

2. Work closely with multi-agency partners to gather information and make informed decisions to ensure child safety.

3. Carry out initial assessments of children’s situations to determine if immediate intervention is necessary.

4. Liaise and communicate effectively with colleagues, schools, and partner agencies to ensure the appropriate care and handling of cases.

5. Create and maintain comprehensive case records reflecting decisions, supervision notes, and actions taken.

6. Prepare and present reports concerning children’s welfare and safety at meetings and court hearings if required.

7. Provide advice, guidance and direct help where necessary to families to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people.

8. Continually audit and review the team’s intervention strategies to meet and improve service delivery.

Requirements:

1. A degree in Social Work and a valid registration with Social Work England.

2. Prior experience of working with children and families in a social work setting.

3. Proven ability to undertake high quality assessments and interventions.

4. Strong understanding of safeguarding issues and the ability to address them appropriately.

5. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.

6. Proficiency in IT systems relevant to the role.

7. Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines.

8. Knowledge about the law relating to children’s social work.

9. A valid driver’s license and access to a car, for travel to various locations around Walsall and beyond.
