Children’s Residential Care Worker

Seven Resourcing are currently seeking a Children’s Residential Care Worker to work within Darlington Council. This is a full time position, and we are paying £21.20 per hour for this role. 

 

The role:

The Children’s Residential Care Worker is responsible for providing care, support, and supervision to children residing in a residential care setting. The role involves creating a safe and nurturing environment, addressing the emotional and physical needs of the children, and working collaboratively with a team of professionals to ensure the well-being and development of each child.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide emotional support and a stable environment for children who may have experienced trauma or difficult family situations.
  • Ensure the basic needs of children are met, including food, clothing, shelter, and healthcare.
  • Monitor and supervise children’s activities to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Implement rules and routines to create a structured and supportive environment, while promoting positive behavior.
  • Collaborate with social workers, psychologists, educators, and other professionals to create and implement comprehensive care plans for each child.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with colleagues, parents, and external stakeholders involved in the child’s care.
  • Keep accurate records of children’s progress, behaviors, and any significant incidents, and ensure documentation is up-to-date.
  • Act as an advocate for children’s rights and needs within the residential facility and in interactions with external agencies.
  • Assist with homework, educational activities, and foster a positive attitude towards learning.
  • Organize and participate in recreational and social activities to promote children’s physical, emotional, and social development.
  • Respond effectively to crises or challenging behaviors and implement crisis management strategies when necessary.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay updated on best practices in child care, trauma-informed care, and relevant policies and procedures.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: GCSEs A-C or equivalent including at least English and Maths.

    Educated to A Level standard or equivalent experience

  • Experience: 2+ years working within a similar role. 
  • Compliance: Current Standard DBS check. 
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37 hours p/w.
