Seven Social Care is looking for a Childrens Social Care – Social Worker Manager at Darlington Borough Council

The role:

Darlington Children’s Services are looking to recruit an Advanced Social Work Practitioner to work in the Assessment & Safeguarding Service.

The successful candidate will work with children from being identified as in need of a single assessment and any further plan required to support the child under CIN, CP and LAC including within the court arena.

The candidate will be expected to hold the more complex cases which is reflected in the level of experience we are looking for.

Alongside case holding responsibility as an Advanced Practitioner the candidate would be expected to provide advice, buddying and guidance to less experienced members of staff, Social Workers undertaking their ASYE and Student Social Workers.

At times they may be required to deputise for the Team Manager and undertake quality assurance work. Darlington was inspected by Ofsted in October 2022 and is a ‘Good’ Local Authority.

Improve the effectiveness of Local Authority Children’s Services We are a small Local Authority, based centrally and as such this makes travelling to meet with families and between locations much easier.

We have a good range of services available to support the work with families and good structures in place. We Offer blended working, where workers are in the office on their duty day), outside of this time desks are able to be booked around worker’s individual needs.

All remote working equipment will be provided including laptop, mobile and personal safety device. New Starters will have a meet & greet with their team manager & collect equipment on their first day. For those from outside of the North East, we can offer up to £50 per night room only accommodation, and paid mileage once per week to & from home at 45 pence per mile.

We have a robust Early Help Service providing a range of preventative services including bespoke packages of support. We also have a dedicated Supervised Contact service, Family Group Conferencing team and Edge of Care team, as well as Family Support Workers aligned to our Assessment and Safeguarding teams.

We offer flexible working options; condensed hours such as 37 over 4 days; differing start/finish times; remote & office working and flexi. Personal and case supervision is held monthly and we offer extensive training opportunities, parking permits and strong administrative support. The post will initially be for 6 month and may be extended beyond this point subject to service need.
