Committee Coordinator

Seven Social Care is looking for a Committee Coordinator at London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham Council.

 

Role Purpose

To support and co-ordinate the work of several Council’s committees and bodies including, but not limited to, overview and scrutiny committees, informal member meetings, joint committees and working groups, public meetings and other decision making, advisory and consultative bodies.

To advise and act as a key liaison between councillors, residents, external partners and senior officers on the Council’s constitution and decision-making processes.

To be responsible for one or more of the following: the maintenance of the Council’s key decisions list, the register of members interests, school admissions appeals, and the Council’s constitution.

 

Role Duties

Support to Governance and Constitutional Arrangements

To coordinate and organise the activities of several council bodies including but not limited to the preparation of agendas, reports, attendance at meetings, preparation of action sheets and minutes.

To liaise with departments and relevant members regarding agenda preparation and to secure through an appropriate agenda planning process the preparation of coordinated reports on all items going to council bodies, ensuring contributions and input from all relevant departments and to liaise with departments seeking to identify and resolve any conflicting views or contributions to reports.

To establish and maintain a close and positive working relationship with the senior officers and leading members responsible for the council bodies assigned from time to time, representing their views where appropriate.

To provide constitutional and procedural advice applicable to officers, members and the relevant council body and to ensure that the requirements of the constitution and relevant legislation are fulfilled.

To ensure compliance with all relevant access to information legislation in consultation with the Head of Governance and to respond to member and public enquiries in relation to governance and scrutiny matters.
