Complaints Investigating Officer – Adult Social Care

Seven Resourcing are looking for a temporary Complaints Investigating Officer to work with the Adult Social Care Team in Redcar. This position is initially for a period of 6 months and is paying £17.00 – £20.00 per hour (PAYE and umbrella payment options are available).

The role:

To undertake thorough investigations into complaints made against Adult Care and/or our commissioned services. To communicate the outcome of those investigations with the relevant parties and identify lessons learnt to improve practice.

Key Responsibilities:

      To manage and conduct complaint investigations about Adult Care and ensure they are handled in an effective and timely manner in accordance with the Local Authority Social Services and NHS Complaints Regulations 2009.

To prepare case documentation for each investigation, interview and manage witnesses, producing accurate witness statements, investigation reports and produce timely responses.

Ability to analyse complex information and to make suitable recommendations for improvements.

To work proactively in the dissemination of lessons learned and identify any risks from investigation outcomes to inform future practice improvements.

Have significant experience of working in the sector and have good knowledge of statutory and regulatory functions associated with Adult Social Care.

Ability to interpret, apply and articulate complex regulations/legislation.

To have understanding of and experience in interacting with Adults who have complex needs such as physical and mental health difficulties.

To manage difficult and contentious situations within the complaints arena.

Where necessary to work collaboratively with the NHS, local clinical commissioning group, mental health services, out of hours services, commissioned providers, and GPs to ensure the complainant receives a coordinated response.

To support the Assurance and Engagement Lead in the preparation of cases which escalate to the Local Government Social Care Ombudsman assisting the production of case documentation and representation on behalf of Adult Care, as well as assisting with coordinating a response to any recommendations issued by the Ombudsman.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: First Degree or equivalent experience in the workplace.
  • Experience: Experience of dealing with complaints in relation to social care.
  • Compliance: 2 x references and proof of right to work in the UK.
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37.5 hours p/w.
