Seven Social Care is looking for a Contact Officer at Stoke on Trent City Council paying £12.44 per hour

The role:

–    A minimum NVQ 3 in working with children and families or equivalent experience of working with children and families. 

–    Experience of direct work with children, their families, and carers in a statutory or voluntary agency which provides services to vulnerable children and their families.

–    Experience in the use of IT including Microsoft packages

–    An understanding of child development and the effect of stress and trauma on child development.

–    An understanding of the key pieces of policies, guidance, and legislation which govern children’s social care.

–    Have unrestricted use of a car and a driving licence or willingness to use public transport. 

–    Be flexible to work between the hours of 8.00am and 8.00pm including evenings and occasional weekends as needed on a rota basis. 

–    The ability to effectively communicate with children, their families, and carers.

–    The ability to build relationships and deliver interventions to children, families, and carers.

–    The ability to work effectively in conflict situations.

–    Knowledge and understanding of child development.

–    Communicate effectively both verbal and in writing 

–    Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislative provisions and statutory guidance including GDPR and child protection. 

–     Willingness to complete mandatory training including, Fire Warden and Paediatric first aid. 

–    Able to record information accurately and timely.

–    Support Parents to improve Parenting capacity and to increase parental confidence and wellbeing. 

–    Contribute to assessments and contact review meetings.

–    Contribute to life story and child appreciation meetings. 

–    As required to be responsible for Cash handling and bus passes and recording systems associated with the task. 

–    As required to be responsible for opening and securing buildings 

–    To ensure safety and wellbeing of families through the implementation of robust safeguarding practices and procedures 

–    To support the Local Authority to meet statutory duties set out by the children in care act 2014.  

–    To build positive relationships with services users and colleagues, being assistant, assertive and challenging when required. 

–    To attend court when necessary

–    To maintain Security and confidentiality of all information collected and stored. 

–    To support with admirative tasks as required.  

–    Able to demonstrate significant knowledge and experience of the issues faced by vulnerable children of all ages and their families including the impact of key lifetime events on children and family dynamics.

–    Ability to listen effectively to others and maintain an open mind, taking a non-judgmental approach to working with all sectors of the community regardless of background or personal circumstances.

–    Ability to understand, collate, monitor and convey complex information to meet the needs of a diverse client group and inform service delivery and improvements.

–    An ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence through the medium of English

–    Any other duties required in line with post
