Contracts Officer – Revenue and Benefits

Seven Resourcing are looking for a temporary Contracts Officer to work with the Revenue and Benefits Service in Peterborough. The role is initially for a period of 6 weeks and is paying £17.46 – £19.66 per hour (paid to you via an umbrella company). This role is part-time for 3 days per week.

The role:

The council has an outsourced revenue and benefits function with the exception of activities that are not permitted to be outsourced. This role is part of the team that picks up elements of the revenue and benefits function that have been retained in house within the council.

Key Responsibilities:

      Provision of information to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) as required for benefit claims. Including, copying and sending all relevant documents as requested, using the Anite system, and using judgement for relevant information (changes in circumstances etc).

Updating referral documents and Peterborough City Council (PCC) records/ spreadsheets etc.

Deal with requests for authorisation of Administrative Penalties following investigations.

Ensure claims are reassessed after investigations and notify DWP of overpayments as a result and deal with requests under the DPA that need to go to other departments.

To work with Client Officers (PCC) in the provision of the quality control function for Housing / Council Tax Benefit and Council Tax.

To assist with client side (PCC) expertise and knowledge in the checking of benefit claims and Council Tax amendments, and to scrutinise the processing of claims that have been undertaken by the partner (Serco).

Administration/ award of Discretionary Housing Payments (DHPs)

Undertake other ad-hoc tasks as directed.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: N/A.
  • Experience: Recent experience in Housing and Council Tax Benefits.
  • Compliance: Current DBS check and references covering the last 3 years.
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 21 hours p/w.
