Seven Social Care is looking for a Court Progression Manager at Slough Borough Council paying  £42 per hour

The role:

The role is available till March 2024 and is for 3 days per week

To act as lead officer working closely with Legal and Children’s services to ensure the timely progression of cases in family court proceedings. Responsible for a measurable improvement in the quality of court documentation.

Utilising professional experience, the role will develop, implement and deliver a case quality framework and bespoke practice development to ensure Social Workers have the requisite skills, to produce quality evidence and act competently as a Social Work lead in formal case proceedings.

 

Main Accountabilities

      To lead an effective partnership between Legal and Children’s Services. Using expert communications skills, work to develop a shared understanding of objectives across both Legal and Children’s Services.

Develop and maintain relationships with external agencies including Children’s Guardians (CAFCASS) the local judiciary, Independent Reviewing Officer’s (IRO’s) solicitors and barristers where appropriate to ensure practice standards are continuously met.

To lead practice development as part of SCF Building Practice to ensure good practice in care proceedings. Working collaboratively with Social Work Team Managers, Principal Social Worker, and Local Authority solicitors to undertake a skills audit to identify skill support needs and provide practice development.

To design and implement a case quality framework, with bespoke practice development to ensure Social Workers and Team Managers have the requisite skills; to produce quality evidence and act competently as a Social Work lead in formal case proceedings. Providing directive and reflective supervision to teams in relation to pre proceedings/active care proceedings.

Manage progress of pre and active care proceedings cases to identify/take action to deal with any potential/actual exceptions that might jeopardise the achievement of required milestones. Escalating where required and reporting progress to both Children’s Services/ Legal Services Senior Management Team Operations Manager monthly.

To troubleshoot and problem solve on cases where difficulties have arisen, and to take the lead role in liaising with the Family Court Head Judge to discuss any problems which may affect court proceedings and agree on solutions.

To ensure the effective progression of care proceedings across Children’s Social Care, Children’s Legal Services, and timely outcomes for children. To be responsible for the collation of all evidence submitted for care proceedings and checking these documents have been approved by Team Managers/Head of Service.

To ensure, and chair regular permanence management discussions are held via legal care planning meetings with legal services and children’s services in relation to care proceedings, making sure evidence filing dates and court timetabling are being adhered to.

To identifying any issues that may arise which may affect the timetabling within care proceedings and to work with legal services to ensure all agencies including the judiciary and CAFCASS are alerted as soon as possible.

To implement the effective use of the Public Law Outline Guidance (2023) and contribute to the management of the Permanence Planning processes.

To provide analytic reports regarding performance data to evaluate the effectiveness of improving timescales in care proceedings. And to devise/review consistent action plans to address concerns and present information to internal and external stakeholders.
