Duty Officer – Adult Social Care

Seven Resourcing are looking for 2 temporary Duty Officers to work with the Adult Social Care Team in Oakdale, Caerphilly. This position is initially for a period of 6 months and is paying £12.70 (PAYE) or £15.81 (umbrella) per hour. The working hours are Monday – Friday from 9am – 5pm. 

The role:

The post holder will contribute to the operation and function of the Information, Advice and Assistance Team (IAA) by providing an effective service that forms the first point of contact for citizens and professionals who need IAA, either electronically, face to face, by telephone or home visit.

The post holder will ensure there is a prompt, good quality response to callers in line with the Social Services and Wellbeing Act (Wales) 2014, divisional policies, procedures and timescales.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The first point of contact to members of the public, professionals, partner agencies and other stakeholders.
  • Provide information and advice on available options in response to initial enquiries.
  • Undertake What Matters conversations with citizens in order to establish required outcomes and needs for the right course of action to promote a Right Place, Right Service, Right Time approach.
  • Arrange for specialist information or assessment to be provided, depending on the needs and outcomes identified.
  • Provide information and advice preventative services where appropriate.
  • Be familiar with resources available within Caerphilly County Borough Council and within the community and other agencies in order to provide information and advice to citizens and professionals, including DEWIS website.
  • Understand the threshold of risk of harm to inform the urgency of a response to a safeguarding referral, ensuring that responses ensure safeguards for children and adults.
  • Provide citizens who contact IAA with a positive customer expertise.
  • Provide citizens and professionals who contact IAA with accurate information, advice, and assistance.
  • Undertake information system checks and proportionate lateral checks with other agencies  to inform decision making, which may result in the need statutory intervention or referrals for preventative services.
  • Prioritise  tasks on a daily basis  to meet the pressure and demands of the services.
  • Liaise with Social Work Teams when a safeguarding  matter is identified to ensure timely responses.
  • Work within a multi agency approach to ensure the best outcomes for children and adults referred to IAA, including those professionals within Caerphilly  Safeguarding, Intervention and Prevention Hub based within IAA.
  • Support, when required, any other identified function within IAA as determined by the Team Manager/Service Manager.

Applicant Requirements:

Qualifications:

      Relevant Level 3 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales.  For example NVQ Level 3 Business Administration or Care or relevant A levels or equivalent professional qualification in social care or health. 

Experience: 2+ years working within a similar role. 

Compliance: Current DBS and 2 x references. 

Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.

Hours: 37 hours p/w.
