Early Help Worker

Seven Resourcing are looking for a temporary Early Help Worker to work in Wokingham.

This position is initially for a period of 3 months and is paying £17.48 per hour (paid to you via an umbrella company).

The working hours are Monday – Friday from 9am – 5pm. 

The role:

Teams will provide early help support to young people aged 6- 18 and their families to reduce risk and harm and prevent escalation to Social Care.

The work builds on a family’s strengths and introduces coping strategies. It mixes practical support with strong challenge, to address complex and enduring needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To support the delivery of strength based, whole family interventions for families with children and young people aged between 8 – 18 years old.
  • To undertake whole family Early Help Assessments and hold regular reviews to monitor progress.
  • To coordinate multi-agency Team Around the Family meetings (TAF’s) for the family where more than one agency is involved in supporting the family.
  • To work closely with schools to encourage stronger links between the family and school in order to encourage school attendance.
  • To provide interventions to parents and carers to reduce the impact of living in conflict for children and young people and to prevent family breakdown. To support separated parents to have positive contact with their children.
  • To work with families where mental health is impacting their life and ensure children, young people and their carers are signposted to the right support services.
  • To deliver services to families through the use of tools and models such as solution focused therapy, Signs of Safety, Restorative Practice and any other identified processes to work towards improving outcomes of children, young people and families.
  • To work directly with children and families in their homes, within the community or other venues.  To work with groups of parents and/or children in a variety of prescribed settings as required. 
  • To undertake whole family, early help assessments and create SMART action plans with families to help them achieve positive change in their life. To hold regular reviews to monitor progress and identify where wider family and other professionals can provide sustainable support.
  • To work in partnership with all professionals to achieve positive outcomes for children, young people and families.
  • To ensure accurate, timely, factual and reflective case recording on all systems and to ensure that all recordings must include the voice of the child.
  • To follow all policies and procedures and work in accordance with WBC’s values in order to meet the needs of children, young people and families in the Wokingham Borough. 

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: NVQ 3 level qualification. 
  • Experience: 2+ years working within a similar role. 
  • Compliance: Proof of right work in the UK and 2 x references. 
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37 hours p/w.
