Seven Resourcing are currently seeking an Engineer to work within Wrexham County Council. This is a part time role (20 hours a week), paying £24.20 p/h.

JOB PURPOSE

 

To have a prime role in the Authority’s response to planning applications, private streetworks schemes and the design, specification and adoption of roads resulting from development.

         

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

To ensure an efficient response to enquiries, particularly formal planning application consultations, and to protect the interests of the highway authority in respect of traffic flow and road safety, etc.

To ensure that necessary improvements and additions to the highway infrastructure are carried out in accordance with Council standards and appropriate legal agreements are entered into.

A knowledge of best practice of Welsh Active travel, Public Rights of Way, Street lighting and traffic signalling.

The preparation of observations and directions on the highway aspect planning applications relating to estate development.

The appraisal of S278 and S38 submissions, design work and an understanding of highway drainage systems and main surface water sewers.

Estimating and assessment of Bond value calculations – including a comprehensive schedule of all items of work necessary to execute a contract duly quantified and estimated for private streetworks schemes and estates in Section 38 default situations.

 

To assist elsewhere across other disciplines as required by your Manager.

To attend relevant meetings attended by all Council Departments and organisations having an impact on the highway infrastructure.

 

Provide technical support with regard to scoping, appraising and challenging Traffic Models received from Developers. Including and swept path analysis and interpretation of modelling tools data i.e. LinSig, Arcady, Picady etc.

Provide technical support with regard to appraising and challenging stage 1 and 2 Road Safety Audits received from Developers.

 

The successful applicant would be required to regularly attend the Development Control office and visit sites for inspections and meetings around the County Borough. (Pool vehicles are made available for this purpose.)

The successful applicant may also be requested to assist the team in updating the County’s Highway Design Standards.
