Exploitation Social Worker

Seven Social Care is working with Sara Jefferies and Toni Clifton at Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council to recruit for 2 Social Workers within the Exploitation Social Care Team.

The child exploitation role sits as part of duty and the ideal candidate will be required to complete section 47 enquiries as part of the duty system which is within the family support service. Therefore Assessment experience is desirable but not essential.

The hours are 9 – 5 Monday – Friday 37 hours per week. However they will consider applicants on a part-time basis.

Pay ranges from £27.53 – £32.34 per hour as per West Midlands capped rates.

In June 2021, Solihull MBC had a targeted OFSTED inspection which specifically looked at children at risk of being missing or exploited, the outcome was good. OFSTED said ‘Vulnerable children in Solihull are cared about and well protected from extra-familial risks’. Job Purpose:

The children you work with will be vulnerable to exploitation, targeted for exploitation or entrenched in exploitation.

Duties:

As an advanced social worker in the field of exploitation, you will hold a caseload of 10 – 12 families.

Your role will be to undertake social work assessments under section 17 or section 47

Trafficking assessments

Screening tools

NRM referrals

Referrals to outreach services

Manage CIN plans

MAACE processes and undertake direct work and intervention with children and families.

You will also consider transfer to the adult exploitation team and support transition.

You may be required to attend legal planning meetings, manage exploitation cases under the PLO or issue care proceedings.

The majority of your work will be managed at the S17 level.

 

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Degree approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience: 12 months/1 year Post Qualifying experience minimum working with children as a qualified Social Worker in the UK.
  • Compliance: Up to date HCPC registration and DBS.
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 22.5 – 37 hours p/w.
