Family Support Worker

  • Salary: £14 - £14 per hour
  • Type: Temporary / Full Time

Seven Social Care are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Support Worker for a part-time/full-time position based in Durham, UK. The ideal candidate will have a sincere interest in making a positive impact on families’ lives, particularly those associated with children and adults with different needs and circumstances.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide emotional, social and practical support to families in their own homes.

2. Work closely with families facing various difficulties and help them develop coping mechanisms.

3. Collaborate with other social care professionals such as social workers, teachers, and therapists.

4. Devise and implement tailor-made support plans to meet each family’s needs.

5. Organise and conduct group sessions on topics such as parenting, personal growth, crisis management, etc.

6. Maintain and update case files, reports, and records, ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times.

7. Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and contribute valuable input on patient care.

8. Help families access necessary resources and services within the community.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or a related field is required.

2. Previous experience in a similar role or within a support/care environment is essential.

3. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

4. Ability to work under pressure and demonstrate resilience in challenging situations.

5. Knowledge of implementing and maintaining safeguarding practices.

6. Capacity to work flexible hours to accommodate the needs of the families being supported.

7. Excellent organisational and time management skills.

8. Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is a plus.
