Family Support Worker

Seven Resourcing are looking for a temporary Family Support Worker to work in North Tyneside. This position is initially for a period of 3 months and is paying £13.21 (PAYE) or £16.25 (umbrella) per hour.

The role:

With the advice, support and guidance of a Team Manager and/or Advanced Practitioner, Family Support Workers offer intensive support to families experiencing multiple and complex issues. Alongside Social Workers who deliver a statutory social work service, they will provide interventions to help and protect children and young people and to support their families/carers to care for them safely. While Social Workers are the case holders, Family Support Workers will assist in the assessment and carry out key actions from the child plans for children and families in need, children subject to child protection plans and children who are looked after by North Tyneside Council. They will undertake direct work with children to ensure the voice of the child and their lived experience is at the centre of the involvement with the family.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Work directly with children and families acting as a consistent point of contact where appropriate.

Provide family intervention support and assessment for children and families who have statutory social work involvement in conjunction with allocated social worker.

Assist with implementing a package of support for the family

Monitor the progress of the plan, highlighting any areas of concern

Work in a strength-based and trauma informed approach.

Develop and maintain effective collaborative working with parents and families.

Build capability in families, by sharing decision-making with the appropriate parent, carer or guardian and identifying solutions families can take ownership of themselves.

A knowledge and understanding of the developmental needs of children and young people within the context of their family and other social relationships.

Ability to understand and work with a variety of family relationship dynamics as well as the family networks.

Knowledge of, and skills in, promoting positive change in accordance with assessed need including working directly with children and young people at times of change, separation and loss.

Maintain strong relationships with team members to ensure reflective and collaborative case working.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Minimum requirement of Level 3 qualification in Child Care, Health or Community/Youth work, education or equivalent.
  • Experience: 2+ years working within a similar role.
  • Compliance: Current DBS check and references covering the last 2 years.
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37.5 hours p/w.
