Finance Assistant

Seven Resourcing are looking for a Finance Assistant to work on an interim basis with Gloucestershire County Council for an initial period of 6 months.

37 Hours Per Week

Up to £19.81 Per Day (PAYE) or up to £25.27 Per Day (Umbrella)

The Job-

  • To support the provision of a comprehensive financial service, including support of budget preparation, maintenance and closure of accounts, and maintenance of financial systems. To ensure that financial management, accounting, and budgetary control/reporting arrangements are working effectively and to assist in providing a financial service to Pension Fund Employers, Members and Pensioners.
  • Project Support to Head of Pensions and Finance Manager. Assist with various tasks/projects of a financial nature, which may involve modelling and costing.
  • Support the production of budgets, closure of accounts, and/or financial systems, in accordance with corporate policy and standards.
  • Assist in ensuring that sound financial planning, effective allocation/use of resources and budgetary control systems are in place and comply with corporate policy and standards.
  • Prepare information and/or analyses for inclusion in a range of returns and reports, including Outturn Reports, Statement of Accounts, statutory returns, grant claims and any additional information at the request of internal and external auditors.
  • Maintain the accuracy of budgets on the council’s main financial system.
  • To contribute to the management and success of Pensions Finance and to carry out other duties and responsibilities which may be required by the Pension Management Team, which may include:  Maintain and regularly update the HEAT database o Quarterly returns for CEPS and National Statistics, Regular reconciliation and monitoring of employer issues and queries, Support HoP and Pensions Managers with the admission of new employers into the scheme as well as the exit arrangements of ceasing employers.

Applicant Requirements-

  • Part-AAT qualification (or equivalent) and actively pursuing full qualification.
  • Demonstrates commitment to training or CPD.
  • You will need to be a qualified accounting technician (AAT) or equivalent, or a graduate with a financial degree and preferably have some experience working in a finance team.
  • We are looking for a finance officer to join our management accounting team, the candidate will have strong communication skills, experience of Excel and preferably SAP.
  • They must have management accounting experience and supporting budget holders. Preferably the candidate will be AAT qualified. This post will involve working in the management accounting team providing essential financial support to our budget holders alongside your finance colleagues. Your role will be to assist and challenge managers within this difficult financial environment following our financial procedures and guidance.
  • We are a large and supportive finance department, and this role will provide the opportunity to develop and gain experience in our management accountancy team. The successful candidate will be willing to learn and work effectively and efficiently both individually and as part of a wider team. You will also have good IT and communication skills.
