Head of Community Safety, resilience and emergency planning

The Head of Community Safety, Resilience & Emergency Planning plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and wellness of the community in Gateshead. The successful candidate will be instrumental in leading and overseeing various initiatives and programs related to community safety, disaster and resilience planning, and emergency response.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead the development and implementation of strategic safety initiatives for community protection.

2. Design and manage a comprehensive emergency planning framework for the community.

3. Work closely with local authorities, emergency services, and civil defense to implement effective emergency response procedures.

4. Oversee resilience-building activities within the community, including risk mitigation planning.

5. Ensure compliance with local, national, and international safety standards and regulations.

6. Conduct risk evaluations, assessments, and safety audits for the community.

7. Organize safety awareness campaigns and training programs for community members.

8. Coordinate with social and health services to provide resources and support for vulnerable groups during emergencies.

9. Prepare regular reports on community safety activities and improvements.

Qualifications:

1. Degree in Public Safety, Emergency Management, or equivalent.

2. Experience in community safety, emergency planning, or a related field.

3. Strong understanding of safety regulations and emergency response procedures.

4. Excellent leadership and team management skills.

5. Exceptional communication abilities, both written and verbal.

6. Ability to establish effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

7. Proven track record in planning, organizing, and delivering community safety initiatives.

8. Strong problem-solving capabilities and resilience under pressure.
