Seven Resourcing are currently seeking a Highways Inspector to work within Rutland County Council. This is a full time role, paying £17.71 p/h. Full UK driving license required.

Overall Purpose of the Post:

Cyclical inspection of the adopted highway for defects, the arranging of works to remedy same, and to liaise with staff within the Council’s own organisation, Parish Councils, the general public, together with the provision of services and information.

Major Objectives:

      To undertake highway inspections to a frequency determined by policy and senior management.

To order and supervise works to remedy defects found upon inspection.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

      Inspect all carriageways, footways, signs and lines.

Identify the appropriate works required to remedy defects found upon inspection.

Prepare works orders including supervision of contractors and their working arrangements including the preparation of designers risk assessments in accordance with the CDM Regulations to identify safe methods of working.

Measure and certify works to allow the payment of invoices.

Maintain accurate and complete records of all inspections and works and produce such reports as may be requested in connection with the duties performed.

Plan and supervise the annual carriageway surface dressing programme.

Investigate encroachments onto the highway and liaise with legal services.

Monitor expenditure on highway maintenance contracts.

Prepare technical reports for claims against the Council relating to incidents on the highway and appear as witness in Court as required.

Issue vehicular crossing permits in rural and urban areas and inspection of the works.

Specification:

Current Health & Safety Qualifications (e.g. IOSH, Risk Assessment).

Accredited Highway Inspector Qualification  (CSCS).

Experience in highway maintenance.
