Housing Advice And Benefits Services Manager

Seven Resourcing are looking for a temporary Housing Advice and Benefits Services Manager to work in Rugby. This position is initially for a period of 6 months and is paying £29.12 per hour (paid to you via an umbrella company).

The role:

The purpose of the job is to manage the Housing Advice and Benefits Services function within the Communities and Homes Service and facilitate a customer first culture throughout the team.

The post holder will, in conjunction with the Chief Officer Communities and Homes, be the lead in delivering a continuously improving, creative and empathetic Housing Advice and Benefits Service, which is both responsive to the needs of customers and reflective of our corporate values.

Key Responsibilities:

      The prevention and management of homelessness and rough sleeping, in compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements

Securing, and where required, managing suitable temporary accommodation solutions for service users to ensure that the council discharges its duties

Managing the housing waiting list in accordance with the Council’s adopted allocations policy

Ensuring the delivery of a compliant and responsive Housing Benefits Service and Council Tax reduction scheme

Strategic planning and delivery, involving a range of internal and external stakeholders, to inform better outcomes for people who are either homeless or at risk of homelessness

Horizon scanning to identify and pursue potential funding opportunities that will help to ensure better outcomes for people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless

Maintaining an understanding of housing needs and housing supply within the borough to support a broad range of activities to ensure that these needs are met, as far as is practicable

Supporting the corporate response to government requests for enabling accommodation for people who have been displaced

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: N/A.
  • Experience: 2+ years working within a similar role.
  • Compliance: References covering the last 2 years and a current DBS check.
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37 hours p/w.
