Housing Fraud Officer

Seven Resourcing are looking for a Housing Fraud Officer to work within Dudley. This is a full time role, paying £99.97 per day. 

This post is subject to the DBS/CRB checking process (delete if not applicable) Driving Licence will be subject to checking with the DVLA. It is a council requirement to have Business Use Car Insurance and a valid MOT certificate (For cars over 3 years old).

Purpose of the job

To deliver Housing Services response to Social Housing Fraud, to deliver on the detection, investigation and prosecution relating to housing fraud and to identify and implement measures to counter fraud and prevent its occurrence. 

 

Specific Accountabilities

  • To be responsible for responding to, investigating, and resolving reports of housing fraud.
  • To be responsible for the development and delivery of fraud prevention.
  • To be responsible for the development and monitoring of systems to detect fraud.
  • To ensure timely and accurate recording of all relevant information on managed cases on databases and Electronic Document Management Systems.
  • To closely liaise with all housing and other relevant teams to meet business and service objectives, maintaining excellent working relationships.
  • To assist colleagues and demonstrate flexibility and contribute to effective teamwork.
  • To promote community cohesion, social inclusion, diversity, and equal opportunities through the delivery of housing services.
  • To maintain an awareness and assist in the delivery of directorate strategic plans, divisional plans and directorate and corporate strategies.
  • To make effective use of information and communications technology in service delivery.
  • To deliver Housing Services response to Social Housing Fraud across the Borough.
  • To raise awareness of the work done to prevent and tackle tenancy fraud amongst tenants, residents, and other stakeholders.
  • To develop action plans and communication strategies promoting whistle blowing and outcomes of fraud work.
  • To investigate and support others to investigate instances of potential housing fraud.
  • To analyse and develop data matching for the purpose of detection of housing fraud.
  • In partnership with other housing officers actively pursue cases of housing fraud to recover possession of tenancies, to exclude persons from the waiting list and prosecute for criminal activity where appropriate and proportionate to do so.
  • To produce and present reports to the Team Manager and Assistant Team Manager as directed.
  • To represent Dudley Housing Services at internal and external meetings on Housing Fraud.
  • To deliver the response to data matches from the National Fraud Initiative, Partnership arrangements or internal reports.
  • To adopt a flexible approach to working including carrying out investigations outside of normal working hours including at weekends and evenings as necessary.
  • To attend meetings during and outside normal working hours as and when required.
